The House was established in Reims in 1843, by Joseph Krug. Since 1843, six generations of the Krug family have enriched Joseph's vision of crafting the very best Champagne he could offer, every single year, regardless of annual variations in climate.
The 169ème Édition of Krug Grande Cuvée is a blend of 146 wines from 11 different years. The youngest is from 2013 and the oldest dates back to 2000. It was composed around the harvest of 2013 and reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up 40% of the final blend.
This is a layered, classically balanced, full-bodied Champagne with great depth, fine tannins, chiseled acidity, and beautiful texture and length. Hazelnut, almonds, dried apricot, citrus, warm biscuits, tangerine, ripe plum, marmalade, and honey flavors dance across the palate. The finish is very long, very pure, and perfectly balanced. Excellent accompanying oysters, grilled shrimp, Indian or Moroccan food, or desserts such as tarte tatin and cheesecake.
