Domaine Du Pegau Chateauneuf Du Pape Cuvee Reserve Rhone Valley France

Grape: 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvedre, 10% other permitted grapes
Tasting Notes: Blackcurrants, Black Cherry, Spice, Violet
The Domaine de Pegau is a family owned winery that was created in 1987 though the Feraud ancestors have worked the land since the 1600's. Laurence Feraud has taken over the 50 acre estate from her father Paul and they continue to produce some of the most outstanding wines in Chateauneuf du Pape.
This Pegau is a blend of the 13 allowable grapes. It's well balanced, layered, complex, very full-bodied and concentrated with young tannins and healthy acid. The tremendously energetic palate presents flavors of black cherry, plum, blackcurrants, spicecake, licorice, peppery herbs, and meat, with violet notes. It finishes gently and impressively long. Quite approachable and easy to drink now but will improve over the next 10 years. Will go well with beef or lamb.
