Babs is a collaboration between famed winegrower John Wagner and equally famed winemaker Adam Lee. John may well be the largest individual landholder in the Sta. Rita Hills, owning both the John Sebastiano Vineyard and Peake Ranch Vineyard and Winery. In Santa Maria Valley, John owns the Sierra Madre Vineyard. Winemaker Adam Lee has spent the last quarter century as owner and winemaker of Siduri Wines. Babs reveals dominating juicy red fruits on the nose, with subtle notes of umami and sandalwood. The palate reveals a fruitier side, with notes of bing cherry and pomegranate at the forefront. With bright acidity and minerality, the use of whole clusters in the fermentation adds additional complexity and subtle hints of new oak to create a long juicy finish.
